American Orchid Society

The American Orchid Society is a horticultural society devoted to the promotion, cultivation, and study of orchids (plant family Orchidaceae). The organization was founded in 1921 and now has a worldwide membership.

The headquarters is in Delray Beach, Florida, adjacent to the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. The American Orchid Society Visitors Center and Botanical Garden is located at the headquarters site.

The organization publishes a monthly magazine, Orchids (formerly AOS Bulletin).

The AMS and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden have announced a merger where the AMS will close its site in Delray Beach and move to the Fairchild campus in Coral Gables at the end of November 2011.[1]
